of air, check out the Raymond Scott double CD that came
out last spring on Basta Records...Loaded with space age
goodies from this early pioneer of electronica..commercials,
slogan-speak, the whole 9...hope that helps...JB

I hate to sound almost self promoting (I like your list)
but if you are going to play 50's-60's music you need
to go "back to Mono". Specifically try adding a few
Phil Spector hits such as the Righteous Brothers,
Ronettes, Crystals, or anything from the "Back to Mono"
4 CD Set. Though the originals were recorded for mono
the remastering was done in stereo.
On an histirial note (pun intended), the Righteous
Brother's "You've Lost that Loving Feeling" was the #1
song for the 20th Century.

Well, for some great airchecks, try musicradio77.com
this is a website dedicated to (IMHO) the greatest Top
40 radio station of all time, WABC 77 in New York. They
have lots of jingles and promos as well as several full
length (Non-Telescoped) airchecks, which is a great way
to re-live a format which has sadly died, real Top40
radio.

He promised me in the last phone call (about 10 days
ago) that he's wrapping it up now...he has to stop all
the last minute research that is really not getting
much done....he's worked on this now for over 10 years,
and said it will be going to press (Greenwood Press
back east) very soon now....which means a few months
yet.

I don't know anything about that, but I did just finish
reading Hal Blaine's autobiography, "Hal Blaine and the
Wrecking Crew." If anyone is interested in purchasing it

Hey Billy,
I posted the mono "It's Easy as 1-2-3" by Jill Gibson to
the MUSICA folder, along with a couple of other nuggets
>from JAN BARRY SESSIONS VOL. 1. One is labeled
only as "untitled instrumental" but I've reason to
believe this is actually "Jilly's Flipside", i.e. the
flip to "1-2-3". The third track is called "Come On".
No artist was listed on the cd, but this sounds like
Jill and Shelly to my ears. Any varification anyone can
provide as to the identity of these last two pieces
would be greatly appreciated!
Billy, do you think you can post the stereo version of
"1-2-3" up there so we can do an A-B comparison?
Thanks,
Jason
