Girl Groups: Fabulous Females that Rocked the World
The Teardrops at Spectropop

In the realm of Girl Group pop, collectors are always looking for that elusive record, the one which can be coupled with the other links in the chain of endless productions made to bounce them off the walls as they listen to their stereos in Girl Group nirvana. After years of waiting, Saxony Records is proud to present Cincinnati's best kept secret, The Teardrops, in all their glory, on one fabulous CD, "The Best Of The Teardrops".

The Teardrops rose to acclaim in late 1965 with the thunderous "Tears Come Tumbling", topping the charts in many cities across America. Although true national success eluded this unique teen quartet, The Teardrops remained the favored daughters of The Queen City. Now, Saxony Records has made available eleven of their original recordings; heart wrenching, emphatic endeavors that made The Teardrops so well-respected. This CD includes their hit, "Tears Come Tumbling", as well as the Northern Soul favorites, the driving "You Won't Be There" and the powerful "Here Comes Loneliness". To further whet one's appetite for cool Girl Group sounds, The Teardrops' first two singles, the regal "Tonight I'm Gonna Fall In Love Again" and the absolutely frantic "I'm Gonna Steal Your Boyfriend" are presented here for the first time since their initial release in 1964 and '65.

Knowledgeable collectors know how difficult it is to obtain the original Saxony singles. Also included are the group's weepy ballads, "That's Why I'll Get By" and "Call Me and I'll Be Happy". Listeners will be treated to the dutiful wartime anthem "I Will Love You Dear Forever" and the engaging "Bubblegummer", perfect for those practicing their "wobble" dancing! Some extra goodies in this eclectic parcel are the inclusion of two practice demos for "Here Comes Loneliness" and the previously unreleased "Walking Down Main Street" showing off the groups ingenuous tones. "The Best of The Teardrops" even contains complete lyric sheets for those of you who like to sing along. All this is wrapped up in a catchy, colorful array of bands and banners, including photos showing all the configurations of group members throughout the group's history. With the exception of the most popular songs, these original Teardrops recordings have never before been made available in any compilation.
