Curiously, the singer sounds remarkably > like Toni Wine. The backing vocalists sound rather familiar too. I meant to ask Ms Wine about this while I had the chance the other week. When I returned home I emailed her an mp3 of the track to listen to. Her reply: "Hi Mick. Not me. But I love the background vocals." There, another rumour squashed. Talking of Toni Wine and Christmas songs. Has anyone heard Tony Orlando's new record, "I Lose It When I Hear 'White Christmas'"? Toni wrote the song with Artie Wayne. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post the track to musica. Artie? Hey la, Mick Patrick -------------------[ archived by Spectropop ]-------------------
Message: 2 Date: Fri, 11 Nov 2005 13:34:59 -0000 From: Kingsley Abbott Subject: more Beagles To add further to the Beagle confusion, the name was also used recently (c.2001/2) by Martin Lawford (ex Adrian Baker's Gidea Park) and Micky Groome (ex GP, Mud and many more) who put out an album - a set of fine 60s/70s remakes. Around the same time they put out another as the Beachnuts as a surfy harmony summer album called, unsurprisingly, The Beachnuts Summer Album. Contact me offlist should you want more details of the latter. Kingsley -------------------[ archived by Spectropop ]-------------------

'You', 'All alone' and 'You lose again' all sound interesting Sue Lynne tracks with the Chris Andrews/Ken Woodman connections. Message: 5 Date: Fri, 11 Nov 2005 19:14:12 -0000 From: George Subject: Elegants-esque song search Had a song called 'Don't believe her' on a cd which I've lost, sounded very like the Elegants but doesn't appear to be on any of their cds. Lyrics to the bridge were 'she's an evil, mis- treating, two-timer, you know what I mean'. Any help appreciated on artist. -------------------[ archived by Spectropop ]-------------------

To be honest, they are all pretty average (particularly "You", which has an awful Greek/"Never on Sunday" vibe) - Chris Andrews has penned better Sandie Shaw B-sides than most of the stuff Sue Lynne recorded. the exception is the incredibly catchy "Don't Pity Me" which got a lot of northern soul plays back in the days when "pop" sides were generally more accepted. Last week, I copied everything Sue Lynne recorded (6 tracks) onto a CD for Mick - "Baby, Baby, Baby" (after "Don't Pity Me", the best thing she did) is already up there, but I'll let Mick decide which others, if any, make it up onto "Musica". clunk click every flip, Michael Clunkie -------------------[ archived by Spectropop ]-------------------

Is this song the same "Don't Pity Me" that was recorded by Joanie Sommers? If so, I would love to listen to Sue´s version. I like very much that song. Chao.
